Privacy notice — ASTERKIND

This notice describes how ASTERKIND (“ASTERKIND,” “we,” “us” or “our”) handles personal information when you browse this website, place an order, request a return or contact customer care.

This notice is also our notice at collection. The categories below describe information collected during the preceding 12 months and information we expect to collect while the practices in this notice remain current.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use the store, we may collect:

We do not intentionally collect government identification numbers, account passwords, health information, biometric information or precise geolocation through the storefront.

Sensitive personal information

Delivery address, account authentication and payment information may be considered sensitive personal information under some laws. We use such information only to provide requested goods and services, prevent fraud, maintain security and comply with law. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about customers.

Sources of information

We receive information:

directly from you when you check out or contact us;
automatically from your browser, device and interactions with the website;
from PayPal about payment status and transaction identifiers;
from delivery, fulfillment, fraud-prevention and customer-care providers; and
from authorities or other parties when needed to prevent misuse or comply with law.

Why we use information

We use personal information to:

provide the website and remember your shopping bag;
validate inventory, create and process an order, collect payment and issue a refund;
arrange fulfillment, delivery, returns and customer support;
authenticate administrators, secure the service, rate-limit misuse, detect fraud and maintain audit records;
keep financial, tax, transaction and dispute records;
diagnose errors and improve site reliability and customer experience; and
establish, exercise or defend legal rights and comply with applicable law.

We do not use automated decision-making to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about customers.

PayPal and payment information

Payment is completed on PayPal. PayPal is an independent data controller for personal information it processes to provide payment, risk, identity and compliance services. PayPal may recognize a browser or an existing PayPal account independently of ASTERKIND. Review the PayPal Privacy Statement for PayPal’s practices and choices.

ASTERKIND receives payment status, amount, currency and transaction identifiers needed to reconcile the order and process refunds. We do not receive your PayPal password or complete card or bank credentials.

How we disclose information

We may disclose the minimum information reasonably needed to:

PayPal and payment, risk and fraud-prevention providers;
hosting, database, security and technical service providers;
warehouses, fulfillment partners, delivery carriers and return processors;
customer-care, professional, accounting, insurance and legal advisers;
a buyer, successor or adviser involved in a legitimate business transaction; and
courts, regulators, law enforcement or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety and the service.

Service providers may use information only for their contracted role or as otherwise permitted by law.

We may create aggregated or deidentified information for security, reliability and operational analysis. We do not attempt to reidentify information that we maintain as deidentified except to test whether the deidentification process is effective or as otherwise permitted by law.

As of the effective date, we do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or use third-party advertising trackers on the storefront. We therefore do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.

Because we do not sell or share information for those purposes, an opt-out preference signal such as Global Privacy Control does not change current storefront behavior. If these practices change, we will update this notice and honor legally required opt-out signals.

Browser storage, cookies and logs

The shopping bag uses local browser storage. Checkout uses temporary session storage to protect access to the order while you move between ASTERKIND and PayPal. You can remove this data using browser controls, but doing so during checkout may prevent the website from completing or displaying the order.

The storefront does not currently set advertising cookies. The server records access and security logs needed to operate and protect the service. PayPal may set its own cookies or use similar technologies after you visit PayPal; its privacy and cookie notices apply to that activity.

Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above. The period depends on the type of information, whether an order was completed, legal and tax recordkeeping duties, fraud and security needs, return and dispute periods, and whether information is required to establish or defend legal claims.

Shopping-bag and checkout data remains on your device until it expires, is replaced or is removed through browser controls. A deletion request may not cover information that we must retain for a completed transaction, security, fraud prevention, accounting, legal compliance or legal claims.

We determine retention using the amount, nature and sensitivity of the information; the purposes described in this notice; the duration of the customer relationship; order, return, refund and chargeback periods; security and fraud risk; backup cycles; and legal, tax, accounting and recordkeeping requirements. We delete, anonymize or restrict information when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to technically necessary backup cycles.

Security

We use administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information, including HTTPS, restricted administrative access, hashed administrator passwords, secure session controls, server-side payment processing, verified PayPal webhooks, backups and audit records. No transmission or storage method can guarantee absolute security.

Do not send card numbers, PayPal passwords or other payment credentials to customer care.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your state or country, you may have rights to:

know or access personal information and receive information about its sources, purposes and recipients;
obtain a portable copy;
correct inaccurate information;
delete information, subject to legal exceptions;
opt out of sale, sharing, targeted advertising or certain profiling;
limit certain uses of sensitive personal information;
withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
appeal a decision about a privacy request; and
receive equal service without unlawful discrimination for exercising a privacy right.

Use contact & order help and state “Privacy request” in the subject line. Describe the right you want to exercise and provide the email address and, where relevant, order number associated with the request. We may verify your identity and authority before disclosing or changing information. An authorized agent may submit a request where applicable law permits, but we may require proof of authorization and direct identity verification.

If we deny a request, the response will explain available appeal steps where required. You may also contact the privacy or consumer-protection regulator in your jurisdiction.

We will acknowledge and respond within the period required by applicable law. We do not charge for ordinary requests, but may decline or charge a lawful fee for requests that are manifestly unfounded, excessive or repetitive. We will use information submitted for verification only to evaluate and fulfill the request, protect the requester and comply with law.

California notice

The “Information we collect” table identifies categories collected, and the sections on sources, purposes and disclosures explain how those categories are handled. California residents may have rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information; opt out of sale or sharing; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and receive non-discriminatory treatment.

As of the effective date, ASTERKIND has not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. The store uses contact, order, transaction, network and customer-care information for the business purposes described in this notice.

We do not currently offer a financial-incentive or price-difference program in exchange for personal information. If such a program is introduced, its material terms and required notice will be provided before enrollment.

Children

The store is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, use contact & order help so it can be reviewed and deleted where required.

International access

The store currently accepts delivery addresses only in the United States. Visitors may access the site from elsewhere, and their information may be processed in the United States or another location used by a service provider. Where applicable law requires safeguards for a transfer, we will use the required mechanism.

Changes and contact

We may update this notice when the store, providers or legal requirements change. A material change will be identified by a new effective date and, where required, additional notice.
